Happy Hour no°296 – Tues 6th Oct 2015 – Irish harp festival & travels

In September this year, I caught up with Annette Benson, an Australian travelling with her husband Dennis on a two-month jaunt through Europe, and beyond.
We spoke in particular about her love of harps, her spiritual connection to Ireland, her background as a librarian and why she loves travelling so much.
Our conversation started with a description of the renowned annual O’Carolan harp festival held in Ireland on the first weekend of October…which she was very excited about and she was looking forward to playing there with a friend of hers…
She recommended listening to the young Russian harpist Alisa Sadikova (whom she’d seen on stage in Australia) perfoming “The Fountain” by French composer Marcel L. Grandjany in St Petersbourg when she was about 9 (in 2012).
